On 14th September 2018, the Hong Kong Chiropractic College Foundation held a seminar on conservative management of knee osteoarthritis, with Mr. Daniel K.Y. Pang, guest speaker.
Around 10% of the world population is affected by knee osteoarthritis (OA).
Knee OA is a multi-factorial disease including aging, obesity, over-use, injury and structural mal-alignment and thus its management comprises numerous elements to be effective and efficacious.
Mr. Daniel K.Y. Pang, 17-years of clinical practice in Pedorthics with extensive experience in all branches including pediatric, geriatric, sports medicine, diabetic and arthritic shared his experience in managing patients with knee osteoarthritis with a group of Hong-Kong registered Health Professionals.
The seminar elucidated a spectrum of treatment options that has been scientifically validated by thorough medical research. The discussion embraced the clinical application of functional shoes, lateral wedged orthotics, valgus controlled bracing and exercises and describes the patient groups they are appropriate for.
