Western Medical Acupuncture Foundation Course By the British Medical Acupuncture Society

The British Medical Acupuncture Society

The Hong-Kong Chiropractic College Foundation is happy to hold the first Western Medical Acupuncture Foundation Course in Hong-Kong in collaboration with the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) and its Medical Director Dr. Mike Cummings.

Course Objectives & Contents

Western medical acupuncture is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence-based medicine.

The course is a mixture of lectures and practical group sessions. Group sizes are kept to a maximum of 12. In the initial stages of training the emphasis is on safety and all attendees will be observed by an experienced demonstrator to ensure a safe needling technique.

On completion of the course the students are expected to be equipped to safely start to practice medical acupuncture, and are offered to complete the BMAS Certificate in Medical Acupuncture within 12 months of the course. On achieving this award BMAS would consider the student to have reached a satisfactory standard for the use of medical acupuncture within their existing scope of professional practice.

**Participants who complete the Western Medical Acupuncture Foundation Course are entitled to reduced rate membership of the BMAS for their first two years.**
